How to connect an optical glass fiber of 80 micrometers through a 250 kg steel mold? Without damaging the fiber during the production of the part and the subsequent demolding?

This is one of the problems which the SSC consortium is about to solve within SBO project "Self-sensing composites". During the last weeks, an RTM part ("the beauty") was produced including a tiny fiber sensor. Four days later, the part was exhibited at the CfK Valley Stade Convention. Congrats to the responsibles of this smart piece of composite!
